Knit a Dishcloth

I remember my Aunt Berniece knitting tons of these as a favor for my cousins bridal shower....probably about 25 years ago....and I had forgotten about them until my real life friend Marzipan mom knit each of us Soul Sisters one as a treat along with the handmade ornments we exchanged at Christmas time.

I kept meaning to look around the internet to see if I could find the pattern my Aunt had used....and found it quite quickly. Apparently it's been around FOR.EVER and it's known as Grandmother's dishcloth. It's SUPER easy and you can whip one up while you're watching T.V. at night...Just grab yourself some Sugar and Cream cotton yarn and a size 6 or 7 needles.

Instructions:

Cast on 4 stitches
Row 1: Knit 4
Row 2: Knit 2, yarn over, knit across the row.
Repeat Row 2 until you have 44 stitches on the needle.
Row 3: Knit 1, Knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit to the end of the row.
Repeat Row 3 until you have 4 stitches on the needle. Then bind these 4 stitches off.

All done! Make a bunch...once you give one away.....they always want more :)

I don't even know what you are talking about. These terms mean nothing to me. Someday, when I'm not so crazy, can you give a tutorial?

This is my favorite pattern! I don't even have to read the pattern anymore. I have made so many of these dish cloths through the years. I just love them! They are great to give away, too!
