No Cake, Just a Plate Piled With Cookies

This was Cubby's request for his 7th birthday. Yes! My baby is SEV.EN!! I truly can't believe it! It seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital and now he's playing football..CRAZY! You may not remember from last year...but I call this my Christmas in October week....because within 7 days I have Cindy Lou's, my father in law, Cubby's and Chips birthdays. Yikes! Today is Cub's birthday and I made chocolate chip muffins to take in to his class this morning...along with apple juice and treat bags filled with healthy stuff...don't get me started....this new healthy-food-only policy at his school for the class parties is driving me NUTS! How can you celebrate Halloween with carrot sticks??! Anyhoo.....I also went in to eat lunch with him at the cafeteria. He was soooo excited!! But as far as the cake for this evening he told me a few days ago he wanted, "...those special cookies from Christmas, in shapes with frosting and sprinkles. Piled on a plate. Just for me." When I asked if he had any shapes in mind...he replied, " a football helmet, a star and a puppy"(well, he looks more like the dog Bolt from the Disney movie) Alrighty then....that's what he got! I sprinkled blue and black...his team colors...on the helmets. I love our school colors...they are easy to dress in because you can find these colors everywhere and still wear them together even if you aren't cheering for a team at the school. The cookies haven't finished drying yet....but I'll pile them on the red You Are Special Today plate later when we sing Happy Birthday :)

Oh how fun! Yeah, I ignore the healthy food/snack rule on my kids' birthdays. Sheesh. they've yet to tell me I can't bring in cupcakes.
